Retouching Photos Before & After: Food Photography
One of the most important parts of branding any business is making sure the photographs and videos that you present to the world are of the best quality they can be. We go more in-depth in our previous blog post on Advanced Photograph Retouching Techniques. Below, we will check out some before and after images that we took and retouched at a recent shoot at Bread of Dreams in Lynn, MA, who were wonderful to work with. These images were retouched by our photo production team and our in-house creative, headed by Mike ADV.
Example One:
Before
After
In this photo, we see that the tip of the whipped cream is bending more to the left, so to make it more aesthetically pleasing, we tilted it to the center. Another thing you may notice is that the model’s nails were changed from a red design to just plain red. Making the background lighter, adding the logo, and adding some coffee beans to the image make it look more professional.
Example Two:
Before
After
This example shows the model holding a plate of food, but the photo itself is a bit dark. As you can see, we brightened the photo, adjusted the model’s makeup, and even added some extra food on the shelf in the back! (Did you catch that one?)
Example Three:
Before
After
This last example is much more subtle. The only thing that was retouched was the color of the photo, but it makes a huge difference. A little more lighting can make the food look so much more delicious!
Although there was nothing necessarily wrong with any of the before photos, you can see how enhancing them just a bit makes them much more pleasing to look at. Check out the video above for more examples.
